Cry Me a Mansion

As a matter of normal course, I would be very pleased to see a success story such as the one portrayed by Brian Marchant-Calsyn. Convicted of possession with intent to distribute LSD, serving his time in a federal prison, gaining his release and growing a business to the point where he can afford a 1.7 million dollar mansion in the tony suburban area know as Town and Country, Missouri outside St. Louis.

Unfortunately, the road to this mansion is paved with the dollars of the people that have been part of one scheme or another since his release from Lewisburg Penitentiary:

  1. The ponzi scheme (S-K) Brian Marchant-Calsyn was affiliated with that sent one of the owners to prison.
  2. An unproven franchise website that worked on getting injury claims routed to law firms. This scheme failed after a Wall Street Journal article exposed it.
  3. Another scheme that changed “franchise” to “business opportunity” and was geared toward the field of internet recruiting.
  4. Yet *another* business opportunity scheme that was supposed to train people to perform “research” for home-based internet recruiters.
  5. Yet *another* business opportunity scheme for home-based medical recruiting using a newsletter report as part of their primary marketing that later admitted flawed data collection methods.
  6. Transferring the assets of that scheme following litigation that alleged fraud to the already employed Chief Operating Officer and her cohort in a Michigan corporation.
  7. Keeping the predecessor scheme operational in an attempt to sell many of the failed “shell” businesses again and again and again.

Yes, a very nice 6,770 square foot, 1.7 million dollar mansion, but with all the skeletons in the closet and the heartache of others to provide the funds, it is a wonder anyone can sleep there.

It may come as no surprise that a person such as this requires an electric gate and state-of-the-art security systems. In my opinion, security systems are designed to keep a potential threat out of an area or keep societal threats in an isolated environment.  It is unfortunate that we don’t have the power to exercise the latter.
